Grammar rule

How the first conditional works

if + present, will / won't + verb

Example
If first (with a comma)If I win, I will fix the playground.
If second (no comma)I will fix the playground if I win.
NegativeIf you don't vote, you won't help your neighborhood.
QuestionWhat will you do if it rains?

After if, use the present, even for the future, and remember the -s: If it rains, if she wins (not if it will rain).

In the result part, you can also use can, should or an order: If you have a problem, you can call me. If you feel sick, stay home.

if or when?

if = maybe: If I have time, I'll call you. when = sure: When I get home, I'll call you. (After when, we use the present too.)

Teach it live with video and a whiteboard, or print it: the PDF has every slide, the homework and the answers.
