Warm-up

Before we look back at unit 9, and at the whole course:

  1. How many English teachers have you had? Were all of them very different, or were some of them alike?
  2. Which English word is so hard to say that you try not to use it?
  3. When you finish a course, do you like to take a break, or do you start the next one right away?

LessonGrammarExample
41all + a plural noun; every / each + a singular noun; each of, all ofAll the buses were late, but every driver said sorry.
42both, either, neither: for two people or thingsBoth shops sell bread, but neither of them sells cake.
43so + an adjective; such (a) + an adjective + a noun; … thatThe lake was so calm. It was such a quiet morning that nobody talked.
44when, as soon as, before, after, until + the present for the futureWe'll start dinner as soon as your uncle gets here.
Five things to watch: a singular noun after every and each (every days), and every of → each of / every one of; neither is already negative (Neither of them doesn't…); such goes with a noun, so with an adjective alone (such tired, so a long day); no a with uncountable nouns (such a good news); no will after when, as soon as, before, after and until (when I will arrive).
