FormMeaningExample
used to + verba past habit or state that is not true nowI used to hate vegetables.
would + verba repeated past action (not a state)My grandpa would tell us stories for hours.
be used to + -ing or a nounsomething is normal and familiar for youI'm used to noise: I grew up in New York.
get used to + -ing or a nounsomething is becoming normal for youI'm getting used to my new glasses.

Negatives and questions are usually written without the d: didn't use to, Did you use to…? would can't describe a state: not She would be shy as a child; say She used to be shy. After be used to and get used to, use -ing, not the base verb: I'm used to cooking for six.
