Grammar rule

The future continuous

UseExample
an action in progress at a time in the futureThis time next week, I'll be skiing in Colorado.
an action that will be in progress when something else happensWhen you call, we'll be having dinner.
a polite question about someone's plansWill you be paying by card?

Form: will + be + -ing (I'll be working, she won't be coming, will they be staying?).

After when, before, after and as soon as, use the present simple, not will: when you call (not when you will call). Verbs for states (know, want, believe) don't usually take -ing: I'll know the results tomorrow. The unit's grammar lesson practices the future continuous fully, with be about to and be due to.

Teach it live with video and a whiteboard, or print it: the PDF has every slide, the homework and the answers.
