Grammar rule

Would like

I'd like + a thing (= I want, but more polite)I'd like a cheeseburger, please.
I'd like to + a verbI'd like to order, please.
Would you like…? (to offer)Would you like fries with that? — Yes, please. / No, thank you.
What would you like…?What would you like to drink? — A lemonade, please.
I'd = I would. Would like is the same for every person: she would like, they would like (not she would likes).

Like or would like?

  • Do you like burgers? = in general, always — Yes, I do. I love them!
  • Would you like a burger? = now — Yes, please!

Other ways to order: I'll have a salad, please. Can I have a coffee, please?
