Negatives and questions

	I / you / we / they	he / she / it
Positive	I work during the day.	She works at night.
Negative	I don't work at night.	She doesn't work during the day.
Question	Do you work at night?	Does she work during the day?
Short answers	Yes, I do. / No, I don't.	Yes, she does. / No, she doesn't.

don't = do not, doesn't = does not. After doesn't and does, the verb has no -s: She doesn't work. Does she work? (not She doesn't works)

Questions with where, what, what time, who

Be careful

• Short answers use do or does, not the verb: "Do you like coffee?" "Yes, I do." (not Yes, I like.)
• With be, we don't use do: Are you a teacher? She isn't a nurse. (not Do you are…?)
