Warm-up

Let's talk about homes.

  1. Is your home a house or an apartment?
  2. Is your home big or small?
  3. Who is at home with you today?

Grammar rule

There is, there are

We use there is and there are to say what is in a place

One thingTwo or more things
There is a garage. There are three bedrooms.
There's a big kitchen. There are two old trees.

There's = There is. We often say there's when we speak.

For two or more things, say there are (not there is three bedrooms). There are has no short form in writing.

Teach it live with video and a whiteboard, or print it: the PDF has every slide, the homework and the answers.
