Warm-up

Let's talk about people.

  1. Who is with you at home?
  2. Who is a good friend of yours?
  3. Are you at work, at school, or both?

Grammar rule

my, your, his, her…

my, your, his, her, its, our, their

PersonWordExample
ImyThis is my friend.
youyourIs this your phone?
hehisDaniel is a student. His cat is Max.
sheherJen is my friend. Her apartment is near my apartment.
ititsThe cat is black and white. Its eyes are green.
weourOur neighbors are nice.
theytheirTheir dog is big.

his is for a man, and her is for a woman: Leo and his parents, Kim and her cookies.

With a name, add 's: Nora's roommate = her roommate. Daniel's cat = his cat.

its (the cat's eyes) and it's (= it is) sound the same, but they are different words. The same with their and they're, and your and you're.

Teach it live with video and a whiteboard, or print it: the PDF has every slide, the homework and the answers.
